The Author
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a Scottish writer and doctor who is most known for developing Sherlock Holmes, one of the most famous fictional detectives ever. Conan Doyle went to the University of Edinburgh and first worked as a doctor before becoming a writer. In 1887, he released his first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet. Doyle created four novels and fifty-six short tales on Holmes over his lifetime. He changed the way detective fiction was written. He wrote more than only Holmes.
